The Innsmouth Girl- update

After my sketch of the Innsmouth Girl a while ago she saw several incarnations in clay. This picture is the work in progress from a week ago. I'm much happier with this version. She's seen a lot more work/detailing this week & is very near completion now, with only the hair & a few details on the base remaining.

Creating bases for sculpts is a thing that haunts me constantly. The Innsmouth idea has become not only this bust, but two more now, with an old fisherman & a priest of Dagon in mid-sculpt. With them came the thematic base idea that I hope carries well for all. Each is a slight variation on old wooden mooring posts & seaside 'bits'. I'll update with full pictures of the finished piece this weekend I think.

Another sculpting jam- Animation Characters

Another old Clubhouse jam was for characters from film animations. I'd chosen Other Mother from Coraline, although the movie hadn't yet been released. I found what I could from commercials & this was the result. I remember wishing there was more time before to complete this the jam ended. Maybe she'll get the hands I missed & a coat of paint sometime soon.

Clubhouse sculpting jams- Portraits

One of my favourite parts of The Clubhouse sculpting forum is the weekly jams. Always a new challenge, and hopefully expanding my skills, I look forward to these.

My entry for the portrait jam was Vinnie Jones, as Mahogany (Midnight Meat Train). I think I came close, but still see details I could have changed.

Return of the King

I thought I'd move a few things from the old blog today. The King is still a work in progress. I've never been able to imagine the right base for this piece, so he sits patiently... waiting for the 'final tour' on the work table.
